Mostly Grenache, the 2019 Ventoux Il Etait Une Fois is a beautiful, perfumed, floral wine in 2019. Revealing a translucent ruby/purple hue, it offers up a great nose of framboise, wild strawberries, candied violets, white pepper, and chalky minerality. Medium to full-bodied on the palate, it has a seamless, elegant mouthfeel, wonderful purity, and a great finish. All about finesse and elegance, it needs plenty of air to show its best today and, I suspect, will benefit from 2-3 years of bottle age. It will have 10-15 years of overall longevity.
