This exceptional wine comes from the Basilicata region in southern Italy. This is also where Monte Vulture, a long-extinct volcano, can be seen from afar. The very old Aglianico grape variety prefers volcanic soils. It produces ruby-red, full-bodied wines that are characterized by intense tannins and strong acidity.
Complex and spicy on the nose with aromas of red fruits as well as black cherries and ripe plums. On the palate, connoisseurs can expect aromas of cassis, black cherries, tobacco and cedar wood as well as a hint of balsam.
