James Suckling 92 points: A creamy and delicious red with redcurrant and fresh-herb aromas and flavors. Medium body, fine tannins and a creamy finish. Balanced and delicious now, but better in a year or two, to allow the wood to dissolve into the wine. Drink or hold.
The Quercegobbe vineyards are located in San Lorenzo Alto. The cultivation system is Guyot and the average age of the vines is 18 years. The terroir is clayey-sandy and slightly calcareous. 6200 vines are planted per hectare. The wines age for at least 6 to 7 months in 600-litre oak barrels (demi-muid), 20% of which are new, and a further 6 to 7 months in the bottle.
tasting note
Intense ruby red color. The nose opens initially with fruity notes of blueberry jam, dried raspberries, black cherries in syrup and plums, then with notes of myrtle, rosemary and finally licorice, cinnamon and pepper. Full-bodied on the palate, overall rich, with soft, round and silky tannins and a pleasant freshness. The wine has a long, powerful and harmonious persistence in the aftertaste.
food recommendation
Perfect with veal with white beans and tomatoes, duck breast with sugar peas or vegetable couscous with beef balls.
