aged in barriques
ORIGIN:
The vines of our TEPHRIT wines grow on the west side of the Kaiserstuhl on the cooled lava that was thrown out of the craters of the volcano 16 million years ago. The barren soils are a constant challenge for the vines, especially in the dry summer months. This forces the vines to adapt and naturally ensures a low yield level and even ripening of the grapes.
CRAFTSMANSHIP:
The grapes were harvested by hand on August 24th and carefully sorted. The traditional mash fermentation took place in open stainless steel tanks for 18 days. After pressing, the wine matured for 12 months in French oak barriques (228l). One third of the barrels were new and two thirds were in their second use. Bottling took place without filtration in April 2020.
