The Riesling Réserve perpétuelle is a continuous cuvée of Riesling base wines over 5 vintages that rests on the yeast without the addition of sulphur and matures in the bottle for another 4 years after the second fermentation. As NV (Non-Vintage) - includes the vintages 2013 to 2017
Parker/Reinhardt - 94
Predominantly based on Bergstrasse (granite) grapes but also from the Pfalz (limestone), the NV Riesling Brut Nature Réserve Perpétuelle includes the vintages 2013 to 2017 and was bottled in November 2018. Disgorged in June last year after 42 months sur lattes (total production: 2520 bottles), the wine offers the most impressive bouquet of all the sparkling Rieslings tasted from this domain for this report. The nose is deep, pure and elegant with perfectly ripe fruit aromas intertwining with the slightly oaky as well as flinty notes of the granite terroirs in the Hessische Bergstrasse. Fresh and round on the palate, this is a dense and mouth-filling yet still young and tempestuous sparkling wine that still needs to settle. The finish is saline and pure, with not a single gram of sugar since it is rich and powerful enough. I assume this sparkling wine will mature very well on the bottle, and I recommend keeping it for at least two or three more years. 12.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted in March 2023.
