Pinot Gris has many faces: from the tangy light of Pinot Grigio to the golden yellow of Ruländer. In this case, we harvested the elegant face of Pinot Gris with its fresh citrus notes and juicy apple aromas of Jonagold apples and a hint of Granny Smith at the appropriate stage of grape ripeness. This means that the grapes were not harvested with baroque ripeness and fullness, but with youthful, lively ripeness, which now flows towards us from the glass in a fruity, fresh way.
In order to have the typical Burgundy aroma in the grapes at this stage, the Pinot Gris needs warm locations with a good lime content, such as those found here in the southern Palatinate.
Accordingly, it rewards us with its fruity character, which is perfect for the start of a long evening on the terrace or for autumnal menus with pumpkin soup or lamb's lettuce. Why not try it with light main courses such as turkey schnitzel with carrot and leek vegetables or wild salmon with a wild garlic and wine cream sauce and lemon zest.
