The 2017 Barbaresco Vallegrande opens with deeply pitched spice notes that lead into a core of dark fruit, leather, cedar, menthol and tobacco. Pliant and expansive, with terrific resonance, the 2017 is super-expressive today. Best of all, it will drink well with minimal cellaring.

Suckling 93,

Very pretty plums, walnuts and cedar with hints of dried flowers on the nose that follow through to a full body with round, lightly chewy tannins. Shows tension and focus for the vintage. Drinkable now, but better in 2022.

Our most traditional Barbaresco comes from the vineyards surrounding the company and, as in the past, is aged exclusively in large barrels. It best expresses the elegance of the wine without showing the muscles of Nebbiolo.

traditional red fermentation of the destemmed grapes, which remain on the skins for 7 to 15 days in steel tanks at a controlled temperature. The wine ages for 24 months in large Slavonian oak barrels. It then ages for 6 months in the bottle before being released on the market.
