2019 Chateauneuf du Pape Clos Saint Jean Clos Saint-Jean

The 2019 Châteauneuf-du-Pape opens on the nose with fine fruit and sweet cherry, raspberry and strawberry aromas. Aromas of dark chocolate, hints of coffee and licorice are also present. The palate is intense, with plenty of black fruit and full body, with silky tannins that perfectly match the intense texture and aromas mentioned, complemented by fresh plum, cassis and herbs from the garrigue. It is long and pairs well with southern French cuisine. "Deeper and more concentrated than the 2018, the 2019 Châteauneuf-du-Pape is impressive enough to remind you of what this cuvée once was," said Joe Cerwinski, Wine Advocate. Dark in color, full of dark fruit, full-bodied and velvety in texture, with a lingering licorice finish, it looks very promising."
