Parker/Stephan Reinhardt - 93
From the crystalline plutonic rocks (ie, granite) of the Hessische Bergstrasse region (predominantly Auerbacher Fürstenlager and Höllberg), the 2018 Riesling Prestige Extra Brut opens with a pure and flinty nose of bright yet intense Riesling aromas and hints of saline. Bottled in July and kept sur lattes for 34 months, this is a pure yet also intense and textured sparkling wine with a full body, serious grip and mineral tension. The finish is still dry and tight but promising for the future. It's maybe not a wine to be served too early but in two or three years after the disgorgement, which was in May 2022 with a dosage of two grams. 12.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. 2754 bottles made. Tasted in March 2023.
