From Madiba Magic (Nelson Mandela's nickname) to Obama Mania - Graham Beck Brut is hard to beat! This wine was served at Nelson Mandela's inauguration and at Barack Obama's celebrations when he became president. The grapes for this wine are a selection of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay and come from vineyards in Robertson, Franschhoek and Stellenbosch. The winemaker Pieter can distinguish different qualities by using the whole grapes when pressing (fractional recovery). This technique is also used in Champagne and forms the basis for the quality classifications "Cuvée", "Premier taille" and "Deuxieme taille". After the sediment has settled on the bottom, the two grape varieties are fermented separately. They are then mixed with a Riserva and bottled. The wine is left in contact with the yeast for 15 to 18 months before disgorging.
The wine shows a light note of yeast with a refreshing lime aroma on the nose and rich, creamy complexity on the palate. The fine mousse provides freshness and finesse.
Enjoy this Methôd Cap Classique with fish, foie gras, salmon or caviar. This wine also goes well with asparagus or artichokes.
