This wine is made from Nero d'Avola, a historic Sicilian grape that has revived wine production in Sicily.
This grape gives the wine elegance and fruitiness. The grapes grow in the vineyards of Ragusa and Agrigento. Both vineyards have completely different climates and soils.
The vineyards in eastern Sicily enjoy a warm climate with wide temperature variations. The light sandy soil makes for elegant, refined and very fragrant wines. The grapes growing in the northwest go through a warm but temperate climate and grow on clay soils, which gives a rich, full-bodied wine.
The perfectly ripe grapes are harvested at the end of September. Fermentation takes place with selected yeasts for 10-12 days at a temperature of 25-27°C, with the must being pumped over regularly.
The Nero d'Avola matures separately in steel tanks to preserve its fruity character. The rest matures in French oak barrels for 8-10 months, creating delicate tannins that give the elegant wine structure.
The final step in the process is blending the wines to create the perfect wine. The wine is aged for a further 12 months, first in steel and then in the bottle.
The wine has an intense red color, deep and concentrated, with slight garnet reflections.
Ripe bouquet with notes of red berries such as blackberries, raspberries and cherries accompanied by floral notes of violets. The aging in wood gives the wine notes of tobacco and vanilla.
The taste is soft and juicy with elegant and fine tannins. The wine has an excellent structure and body.
