The purity of fruit is all here with strawberry, lemon peel and floral undertones. Goes to cranberries. It's medium-bodied with firm tannins and a bright, vivid and linear finish that keeps your palate clean.
Falstaff 94 points:
Sparkling, brightening ruby with garnet rim. Finely drawn nose, shows notes of pomegranate and raspberry, fine spice in the background. Lots of fine-meshed, present tannin on the palate, builds up in many layers, salty and profound, very long finish.
This vineyard is a gem, around 1.5 hectares planted with ungrafted, 80 to 100 year old Nerello vines, in the traditional low-stemmed Alberello training - hence the name of the wine. It is located 950 meters above sea level. After fermentation and a subsequent 20-day maceration, the Alberello is aged for twelve months in 500-liter French oak barrels. Around 6,000 bottles were bottled from the first vintage in 2016.
