The grapes for this wine come from plots where slate is found in a wide variety of colors. Depending on the minerals that dominate the soil, the color of the slate changes to gray, green or blue-purple. These plots are located in the heart of the "Hallgartener Hendelberg" and the (former - before 1971) "Hallgartener Deutelsberg". The vineyards are facing south to southwest with a slope of up to 40%, so that the sunlight can be described as ideal. They are often shallow to medium-deep and very easy to heat up. The slate absorbs the sun's warming rays during the day and releases them back to the vines at night. The grapes for this wine were harvested in mid to late September. They were light green to golden yellow and ripe. After the harvest, the grapes were pressed directly and fermented in stainless steel for up to 8 weeks and left on the fine yeast until January. It is precisely the aging in the finely tart style that promotes the fruitiness and fine balance typical of slate.
